All PREBENA products are repeatedly tested at the German Quality Control Center at our headquarters in Schotten, Germany. We ensure a consistent product quality for all fasteners we provide.
Our Production
We constantly update and increase our production capabilities to produce the following fasteners on demand in Bridgeport, West Virginia:
- 15 Gauge staples
- 15.5 Gauge flooring staples with highest tensile strength in the market
- 16 Gauge staples and finishing nails
- 18 Gauge staples and finishing brads
All items produced in West Virginia are made using steel, glues and coatings from the United States or imported from Germany ONLY. We offer our products made from:
- Electro galvanized wire in different tensile strengths
- Stainless steel 304
- Stainless steel 316
and as
- Chisel point staples
- Divergent point staples
- Cross chisel cut point staples
In addition, we offer custom made staples upon request.
In addition to our production, at our location in Bridgeport, WV we feature a show room to present our products and we maintain an extensive warehouse to sell fasteners by the box, by the case, by the pallet or by the truckload.

Our Quality
PREBENA maintains a high-end quality control lab at their ISO certified headquarters in Schotten, Germany. Our technicians and engineers developed strict protocols for testing all products we offer - but we take it a step further:
- Raw materials from all PREBENA plants worldwide are collected and tested for their specifications.
- For any new product, several performance tests are run before they are sent to the market.
- Later, production samples are taken frequently to ensure that production is within the given specifications and the care free use for our customers.
Today, PREBENA is recognized as a worldwide leader in quality fastener production and technology...... and, of course, we as PREBENA North American Fasteners Corp. are ISO 9001:2015 certified! Our fasteners reach and exceed the specifications of ISANTA and ICC (ESR-1539).

Our History
Founded more than 60 years ago, PREBENA is an industry leader in Germany and throughout many parts of the world. PREBENA is recognized for unrelenting quality and high manufacturing standards. In an effort to expand globally, PREBENA co-founded North American Fastener Corp. in 1987 and opened a new – our current - production facility in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The company successfully produced various types of fasteners until the housing crisis in 2007 / 2008. Afterwards, despite several attempts to stabilize the company, it faced difficult times and this led to a steep decline in the number of employees.
In early 2013, PREBENA purchased the outstanding shares and implemented a new management. After a tough turnaround, PREBENA North American Fasteners Corp. not only grows steadily in local production, number of employees and sales, but also invests in upgraded production machinery and building improvements. We are here to stay!
Our Group
PREBENA is a family owned business founded by Wilfried Bornemann in Schotten, Germany, in 1960. After leading the company for more than 50 years, Wilfried Bornemann passed away in 2011 and left the company in the hands of his family. Today, Gabriela Bornemann and Werner Rücklinger lead the company as President and CEO respectively.
The PREBENA Group has subsidiaries and partnerships in more than 30 different countries worldwide.
PREBENA
Wilfried Bornemann studies in Hamburg and works for companies in the fastening industry in Paris. On June 15, 1960, he registers PREBENA as a trademark.
Hardly anyone knows: PRE stands for compressed air - BENA stands for nailing.
Wilfried Bornemann starts with capital of 5,000 marks. The initial trading company is quickly transformed into a self-producing company.
A disused weaving mill in Schotten serves as the production site.
In 1963, the first PREBENA machine for the production of staples is fully developed.
While customers have to be acquired and looked after during the day, operating the machines is on the entrepreneur's to-do list in the evenings, at night and on weekends.
In 1967, a flood of the century destroys all the machines and finished products. But Wilfried Bornemann decides to carry on. And so, in 1969, the first construction phase for the production facility still located there today is built.

Wilfried Bornemann follows an invitation to Australia and comes up with the idea of opening a partner company there.
This happened in 1973.
In 1977, a cooperation with the company PREBENA Steen + Klentze in Ahrensburg was established.
From then on, the companies PREBENA Wilfried Bornemann GmbH & Co. KG
and PREBENA Steen + Klentze GmbH work closely together.
The image as a reliable and high-quality supplier continues to grow. PREBENA's know-how is recognized in the professional world. Turnover increases to 8 million marks.
In the 1980s, turnover rises from 10 million marks to an incredible 40 million marks.
The mechanical engineering team (Maurer, Becker, Repp and Augat), together with Wilfried Bornemann, develops a world first - the WBT wire conveyor system. Sales companies are established in Austria and Switzerland.
PREBENA sells its constantly growing product range and production machines in the USA, Japan and all over the world. 1986 PREBENA America establishes a modern production facility in Bridgeport, USA. In 1986, the mechanical engineering company PWM Maschinen-und Apparatebau GmbH is founded.

PREBENA continues to grow steadily in the 1990s.
In 1990 and 1995, subsidiaries with their own production facilities were founded in Poland, Leipzig and Russia.

2003-2006 The PREBENA compressed air cartridge technology is developed and introduced.
PREBENA is awarded the Innovation Prize of the German Economy.
2007 Foundation of PREBENA Österreich GmbH with location in Kuchl.
In 2010, PREBENA celebrates its 50th anniversary with a big party.
After a serious illness, the founder of PREBENA, Wilfried Bornemann, passes away in 2011. Mrs. Natalia Bornemann and Mr. Werner Rücklinger take over the management of the company.
In 2016, another subsidiary was founded, BoWiTec GmbH, which specializes in the production of high-quality wire strapping.
BoWiTec wire straps are manufactured at the Schotten site - "Made in Germany" - in accordance with ISO quality management specifications and meet the highest ETA quality standards.
We look forward to many more innovations in the future.
